CORVALLIS, Ore. – Kendal Manuel and Tres Tinkle scored 10 points each as Oregon State held off a pesky Jacksonville State squad 70-69 on Tuesday evening. The win was the fifth consecutive for OSU.

Manuel, the former Billings Skyview standout, scored 10 points in 20 minutes of play. His 3-pointer with 6:35 to play gave Oregon State its largest lead of the second half at 65-59. Manuel finished 4-6 from the floor with a pair of 3-pointers. He added one rebound in the win.

Former two-time Montana Gatorade player of the year Tinkle also collected 10 points against the Gamecocks, shooting 3-7 from the field. Tinkle, son of head coach Wayne, had three assists and two rebounds in 35 minutes of play. His layup with 2:33 remaining pushed the Beavers’ lead to 70-67 as OSU’s defense held down the stretch.

Oregon State overcame a three-point first half deficit in the game, which saw Jacksonville State lead by seven in the opening half. The Beavers never led in the first 20 minutes and took their first lead on a four-point play from Stephen Thompson Jr. in the first minute of the second half. Thompson finished with a team-high 18 points.

Jacksonville State was led by Malcolm Drumwright’s game-high 20 points.

Oregon State (7-3) takes its five-game win streak into Saturday’s game against Saint Louis. The contest will be broadcast live on the Pac-12 Networks. Tip off is slated for 7:30 p.m. PT in Portland.
