KANSAS CITY, Mo. – Cole Catlin and Luca Wiechers from Rocky Mountain College were both named to the United Soccer Coaches Men’s Scholar All-America Team for the NAIA, the association announced Friday.
The Rocky duo make the team after previously being named to the 2017 Daktronics-NAIA Scholar-Athlete Team.
Catlin is a senior from Billings, Montana that is a Business major. He started all 19 games in goal this season and went 16-1-2 with eight shutouts and a 0.77 goals-against-average.
Wiechers is a junior Sports Management major from Hamburg, Germany. He also started all 19 games for the Battlin’ Bears this season and finished with five goals and one assist on 22 shots.
Student-athletes receiving Scholar All-America recognition from the United Soccer Coaches meet the following criteria:
-3.30 cumulative grade point average (on a 4.0 scale) or better throughout career
-Started more than 50 percent of all games and significantly contribute to their team
-Nominated by head coach of current College Services member institution
-Junior or above in academic standing; and, if a transfer student, in second year at school
Players on this year’s Scholar All-America Teams will be formally acknowledged for their accomplishments on the field and in the classroom at the All-America Luncheon on January 20, 2018 at the Pennsylvania Convention Center in conjunction with the 2018 United Soccer Coaches Convention.
