KALISPELL – The Kalispell Glacier boys enter this basketball season in a position they’ve never before experienced: defending state champs.
The Wolfpack dominated last season, finishing with an overall record of 23-3, and capping off the run with the program’s first ever state championship. Head coach Mark Harkins admits he and the players dream about going back to back.
It won’t be easy without a couple of last year’s stars. But the whole program gained valuable experience from finally getting to the top of the Class AA mountain.
“You know, the biggest thing we take out of that last year is that we have several kids who were part of that last year and they know what it takes to be successful at the highest level,” said Harkins. “They know the effort it takes, the intensity it takes and that experience is really, you know, you can’t replace that. You can’t simulate that in practice or anything like that.”
Glacier will open the season Saturday afternoon at home against Great Falls CMR.
