KANSAS CITY, Mo. — Montana Western, Carroll College, and Montana State-Northern all made an appearance in the first NAIA women’s basketball poll of the season.

Montana Western ranks highest in the Frontier Conference at No. 12, moving up four spots from the team’s preseason ranking. The Bulldogs’ six-game winning streak was halted by No. 6 Lewis and Clark State on Nov. 30. The women beat Montana Tech on Nov. 28 to begin Frontier Conference play.

Carroll College makes an appearance at No. 21 in this week’s poll, after not being picked as one of the top 25 teams entering the season. The Saints are 5-2 to begin the season, but also won an exhibition game against Division I Boise State on Nov. 5. The women are 1-1 in conference play.

MSU-Northern drops one spot to No. 22 in the latest rankings. The Lights are 6-4 to begin the season, most recently beating Carroll on Dec. 2. Northern is also 1-1 in the Frontier, with the team’s loss coming against Rocky Mountain College on Dec. 1.
