WHITEFISH – Montana Western junior guard Briana King was named the Frontier Conference women’s basketball player of the week on Monday.

King, a 5-foot-5 junior from Spokane, guided No. 16 Western to a pair of wins last week. The Bulldogs defeated the College of Idaho 68-44 and bullied past No. 7 Eastern Oregon 79-65.

King set a new Montana Western single-game record with 37 points in the win over Eastern Oregon. The senior leader hit 13 of 24 field goals, including a 6-12 performance from the 3-point line for coach Lindsay Wooley.

King averaged 25 points, 5.5 rebounds, 2.5 assists and 2.5 steals in the wins. She knocked down 18 total field goals, seven from downtown.

King and Western carry a 6-1 record into the week with a pair of games looming. The Bulldogs welcome Montana Tech to Dillon on Tuesday before traveling to defending NAIA national runner-up Lewis-Clark State on Thursday.
