BUTTE — Montana Tech junior wideout Dion Williams has been solid for the Orediggers all season. On Saturday, everyone found out that he was historically good.
Williams shined in the team’s final game of the season, a 24-10 loss at the hands of Southern Oregon. The Fairfield, California native grabbed 10 balls for 126 yards. It was announced during the game that Williams was up to 77 receptions on the season, a new single-season record at Montana Tech. The 126 yards also put him at 1,004 on the season.
Zach Kinney was the previous record-holder for receptions in a season with 75 in 2013. The 1,004 yards also brings Williams up to 1,969 for his career, just 462 yards off of the all-time career mark at Tech. His yardage this season is the third-highest in a single campaign.
