BUTTE — One of Butte High School’s top softball talents is taking her skills to the next level.

Kaidy McClafferty signed her letter of intent to pitch at Bemidji State in Minnesota. The senior led the Bulldogs last season with 10 wins and 144 strikeouts. She joins a Beavers squad that posted a 28-19 record last season, but she is focused on helping Butte improve in her final season.

“I’m hoping we’re going to get (to) state,” she said. “I can see it. We have so much potential to do so much, and I want to make this our year.”

If nothing else, McClafferty will be loose as she enters her senior season, with the big decision now behind her.

“A huge weight is lifted off my shoulders,” she said. “But we have so much left to do here, (so) I can’t wait until this year.”
