HELENA – Carroll College volleyball swept MSU-Northern in the final match of Friday’s opening round at the Frontier Conference volleyball tournament. The Fighting Saints won 25-16, 25-14, 25-19 to advance.
Taelyr Krantz, the freshman from Helena High, recorded a team-high 10 kills for the No. 3 seed Carroll. Rayna Pilgeram had 33 of the team’s 38 assists and also added 15 digs. Ayla Carpenter led the Saints with 22 digs in the win. Carroll tallied 47 kills compared to only 26 from the Skylights.
Timi Severson led MSU-Northern with 11 kills. Shania Neubauer had 23 assists for the Skylights.
Carroll advances to Saturday’s semifinals in the conference tournament. The Fighting Saints will meet Rocky Mountain College after the Battlin’ Bears defeated Montana Western earlier in the afternoon. The University of Providence also advanced with their victory over Lewis-Clark State. The Lady Argos meet top-seeded Montana Tech on Saturday.
The winners of the two semifinal matches will compete Saturday at 7 p.m. for the Frontier Conference championship and automatic berth in the upcoming NAIA national tournament.
