BOZEMAN — The Class B state volleyball tournament started Thursday morning at Brick Breeden Fieldhouse. Eight teams will play as many as 15 matches Thursday, Friday and Saturday, concluding with the championship match at 1 p.m. Saturday.

Joliet def. Three Forks 11-25, 25-19, 25-18, 25-18

Vanessa Nowak (15), Makenna Bushman (14) and Shayla Webber (12) combined for 41 kills to help Joliet to a four-set win, 11-25, 25-19, 25-18, 25-18, over Three Forks in the second round of the Class B state volleyball tournament at Brick Breeden Fieldhouse Thursday.

Webber, who split the setting duties with Joelle Luoma, added 18 assists, 20 digs and three aces. Joliet will meet Huntley Project in all-Southern B undefeated semifinal Friday at 6 p.m.

Three Forks, wich got 14 kills from Morgan Allen and 13 from Shainy Mack, will play a loser-out match at 2 p.m.

Huntley Project def. Jefferson 25-10, 25-16, 25-19

Alana Graves led a balanced offensive attack as Huntley Project swept past Jefferson and into the undefeated semifinal. The Red Devils won 25-10, 25-16 and 25-19 to earn the victory.

Graves had 12 kills, while Mollee Krum and Ashton Albrecht added 10 each, as the Red Devils reached 40 kills as a team. Addy Hultgren had 20 assists to pair with 17 from Heidi Cranford. Huntley Project recorded a whopping 78 digs for Iona Stookey, 25 coming from Maggie Taylor.

The Red Devils await the winner of Thursday evening’s Joliet versus Three Forks quarterfinal for Friday’s 6 p.m. undefeated semifinal. Huntley Project has won nine of the last 16 Class B state championships.

Jefferson falls to the loser-out bracket and will meet either Shelby or Eureka on Friday at 4 p.m.

Three Forks def. Eureka 25-14, 25-11, 25-23

Three Forks made it a clean sweep for Southern B in the first round of the State B volleyball tournament at Brick Breeden Fieldhouse with a 25-14, 25-11, 25-23 win over Eureka.

Morgan Allen had 19 kills and eight blocks for the Wolves, who were the fourth team from the Southern Division to win on Thursday. Kyle Olson had 29 assists, while Shainy Mack had 10 kills, two blocks and nine digs. Heather Wilson added four aces for Three Forks, which will face Joliet in a quarterfinal match at 8 p.m. Thursday.

Kassi Peterson had 12 kills to lead Eureka, which will play Shelby in a loser-out match Friday at noon.

Joliet def. Shelby 25-13, 25-14, 25-23

Makenna Bushman had 14 kills, Joelle Luoma added 10 and Vanessa Nowak nine as Joliet cruised to a 25-13, 25-14, 25-23 win over Shelby in the first round of the Class B state volleyball tournament Thursday at Brick Breeden Fieldhouse.

Shayla Webber led the J-Hawks with 20 assists and three aces while also adding 12 digs. Bushman also had three aces, 15 digs and 1.5 blocks as Joliet advanced to a Thursday quarrterfinal match at 8 p.m.

Brittany Brusven had six kills and Skyler Martin a match-high 17 digs for Shelby, which will play a loser-out match Friday at noon.

Huntley Project def. Fairfield 25-13, 25-10, 25-8

Alana Graves had 13 kills, Mollee Krum seven and Ashton Albrecht three as Huntley Project cruised to a 25-13, 25-10, 25-8 win over Fairfield in the first round of the State B volleyball tournament Thursday at Brick Breeden Fieldhouse.

Amanda Crawford added four blocks for the Red Devils, who shut down Fairfield’s offense. The Eagles had just 12 kills in the three-set loss.

Huntley Project will play Jefferson in a Thursday quarterfinal match at 6 p.m., while Fairfield will meet Florence in a loser-out contest Friday at 10 a.m.

Jefferson def. Florence 16-25, 21-25, 25-23, 25-23, 15-10

Emily McGinnis put down 22 kills as Jefferson rallied from a two-set deficit to defeat Florence 16-25, 21-25, 25-23, 25-23, 15-10 in the first round of the Class B state volleyball tournament Thursday at Brick Breeden Fieldhouse.

Aubrey McMaster had 29 of the Panther’s 30 assists, while also contributing two aces. Ellie Evertz also had six blocks for Jefferson, which will play in a Thursday quarterfinal match at 6 p.m. against either Huntley Project.

Florence, which got 23 kills from Sarah Hopcroft, will play a loser-out match Friday at 10 a.m. against Fairfield.
