HELENA – A pair of Helena Capital’s best and brightest track stars are officially going to be running in college after signing their official letters of intent Thursday afternoon in the Capital High School library.
Elena Carter will be headed to Bozeman to run track for Montana State, and Hannah Rohrer-Fitzhugh is off to Utah to continue her cross country career with Westminster. They were big decisions for both athletes, but both are very happy their choices.
“I really liked the coaching and team at Montana State and I kind of wanted to go where my dad went,” Carter said. “Because we always used to go to football games and stuff there, so it’s always been kind of a dream of mine to go to Montana State and follow in his footsteps.”
“I just really liked the school and went down there and toured it. It felt like a really great fit,” Rohrer-Fitzhugh said of her new home next year. “The coach was really nice. The teammates were all really nice. Everything about it just fit nice.”
