Despite not playing last week, the Montana football team slid in the polls.
The Grizzlies, who were ranked 21st in the STATS FCS Poll and 25th in the FCS Coaches Poll last week, fell to No. 24 in the STATS FCS Poll. They’re not ranked in the Coaches Poll, though they did receive votes. Both polls were released Monday.
Montana (5-2) started to make headway in the polls after its convincing win over North Dakota on Oct. 15, but the Grizzlies took a step back this week. They play at Weber State, which is ranked 22nd by the coaches, on Saturday.
Eastern Washington is still the highest-ranked Big Sky Conference team in the polls, but the Eagles fell out of the top 10 after their loss to Southern Utah. EWU is now ranked 12th in the Coaches Poll and 14th in the STATS FCS Poll.
The coaches also ranked Northern Arizona in the top 25. The Lumberjacks, who were unranked, debuted this week at No. 24. The Griz received the 27th-most votes, two places ahead of Southern Utah.
Southern Utah is ranked 25th in the STATS FCS poll, while Northern Arizona and Weber State finished with the 26th- and 27th-most votes.
James Madison is the top-ranked team in both polls, followed by North Dakota State, Jacksonville State, Central Arkansas and Sam Houston State.
