BOZEMAN — Northern Colorado will play without its starting quarterback when Montana State goes to visit Greeley on Saturday, but the Bobcats will also be down an important piece.

Linebacker and Bozeman native Grant Collins is likely to miss the game against the Bears after sustaining what appears to be a lower leg injury in the fourth quarter of last Saturday’s game against Eastern Washington. Collins dove after the escaping Gage Gubrud on a crucial third down, but Gubrud escaped and moved the chains to help seal an Eagles victory.

“Hopefully by (Tuesday) evening, we’ll have a more clear picture as to what we’re going to do with (Collins) moving forward,” said MSU head coach Jeff Choate. “We know that, most likely, (he) won’t play this week, so we took (him) off the depth chart.”

Collins will have definitive tests done on Tuesday. Collins joins offensive lineman Caleb Gillis as starters removed from the depth chart ahead of Saturday’s matchup.
