MISSOULA and KALISPELL – Runners from Missoula Hellgate and Kalispell Flathead won city cross country meets on Wednesday.

At the Runners Edge Missoula City Meet at Linda Vista Golf Course, the winners took their time moving to the front. But the two favorites finished strong to win easily.

Hellgate’s Ella DeGrandpre finished in 18:45, 17 seconds ahead of second-place Ellee Becker, another Knight runner. Hellgate’s girls took the top three places and four of the top five.

Isaac Schmidt made it a sweep for the Knights in the boys race. He finished in 16:27, 16 seconds ahead of second place. Ian Curtis and Lukas Horejsi gave Hellgate the top three places.

In Kalispell at the Glacier Invite, Flathead runners dominated on their rival’s home course. The Braves’ Ben Perrin won the boys race easily in 16:09. Kaitlin Wride of Flathead won the girls race.
