HELENA – The Rocky Mountain College women’s golf team cruised to its second win of the season with a record-setting performance at the Carroll College Invitational held at the Green Meadows Country Club on Monday and Tuesday. “I am so proud of this team and their performance this week,” Rocky head coach Aaron Pohle said. “To follow a record tying round with a better round is amazing. Their mental game was very strong and they did a good job of staying present.”

Rocky won the event by 36 strokes over Lewis-Clark State. They dominated the five par-5 holes, shooting 9-under over the two rounds for an average of 4.92 strokes per hole. The Battlin’ Bears led all teams with 32 birdies and 113 pars during the week.

Three Rocky players finished in the top five and all five Battlin’ Bears placed in the top 10 of the final individual rankings.

Anna DeMars led the team with a 4-under 140. She shot 70 during each round of the event and led all players by averaging 3.88 strokes on the par-4 holes. DeMars made eight birdies and 24 pars.

Eryn Ellis finished third after shooting 141 for the week. After an opening round of 72, Ellis came back to shoot 69 on Tuesday. That was the lowest round by a Rocky player for the week and second-lowest round of any player in the field of 39. Ellis led the tournament with 27 pars while adding six birdies and shooting 1-under on the par-3 holes.

Hayden Flohr shot 72-72 to place fifth with 144 strokes. She tied DeMars with eight birdies and posted 21 pars. Flohr shot 2-over on the par-3 holes and was 2-under on the par-5 holes.
