BETHLEHEM, Pennsylvania — It looks like former Great Falls CMR running back Andrew Grinde hasn’t missed a step after taking a year off of football.
The 2014 Montana Gatorade Player of the Year rushed four times for 45 yards and a touchdown in his first game with the Yale Bulldogs, a 56-28 road win over Lehigh University.
Grinde was listed as the third-string running back and received all of his carries during Yale’s last drive of the game. He ran for six yards on his first carry before exploding for a 34-yard scamper to the Lehigh five-yard line. He capped off the scoring drive with two more rushes before finding the end zone.
Grinde originally committed to Yale in 2015 but opted to take a year off from football in 2016 while living and working at a law firm in Bozeman. He re-joined the Bulldogs in the fall of 2017 and worked his way into the rotation at running back.
Yale (1-0) will begin Ivy League play next Saturday, Sept. 3rd at home against Cornell.
