BILLINGS – The Billings West Golden Bears continue to be the Magic City team to beat on the golf course.
West swept the team titles at the City Golf meet Thursday at Peter Yegen Golf Club, with Joey Moore and Carrie Carpenter claiming the individual crowns.
Moore shot a 5-under 66 one week after shooting a 61 on the course. Billings Senior’s Braxton Humphrey and Billings Skyview’s Cody Brunner tied for second at 70.
Humphrey and his Broncs’ teammates gave West all they could handle. The Bears only won the team title by a single shot: 295 to 296. West’s JV team finished third at 340, six shots better than Skyview’s varsity.
West’s girls, meanwhile, won by 17 shots thanks to a 1-2 finish from Carpenter and Peyton Kimmel. Carpenter shot a 76, while Kimmel put up a 78 playing in the same group. Skyview’s Kyra Brockhausen finished third at 81.
West shot 338 as a team, while Skyview finished second at 355. Senior was third at 374.
