GREAT FALLS — The Helena Brewers built a 15-2 lead in the top of the sixth inning only to see that lead evaporate after 11 unanswered run from the Great Falls Voyagers.

Great Falls loaded the bases trailing by two runs with one out in the bottom of the ninth, but Carlos Perez grounded into a double play to end the comeback attempt.

Gabriel Garcia hit a grand slam for Helena in the sixth inning and totaled five RBI on the night. Leadoff hitter Kenney Corey finished the game 4-for-5 at the plate with three runs scored.

Reigning Pioneer League Pitcher of the Week Kyle Van Ruden absorbed the loss for the Voyagers, allowing six runs in three innings of work although only two were earned. Michael Peterson struck out seven batters in five innings to record the win for the Brewers.

The Voyagers (15-12) still lead the second-half standings, but a Missoula win over Billings moved the Osprey within 3.5 games of Great Falls with 11 games left to play.
