LIVINGSTON – Ty Erickson is one of the biggest names in rodeo. He is currently the best steer wrestler in the entire world, but his love for rodeo might have been passed down from his parents.

Erickson’s mother, Janet Erickson of Helena, competed in barrel racing over the weekend at Race to the Finish line in Livingston, the biggest barrel racing event in the state of Montana. On Sunday she scored a time of 19.936 seconds after accidentally taking too wide a turn on the second barrel in her run.

Even though she didn’t top the competition like her son often does, she displayed that the love for rodeo gets passed down from generation to generation.
