HELENA – The Helena High football team hit the practice field bright and early Friday morning to officially open fall camp.
“This is always a great time of the year,”said Bengals head coach Tony Arntson. “It’s a fresh time, you got new bodies coming on to the field. And no matter what you do in the offseason or camps or weight training, speed training, or whatever you do, nothing can simulate this day.”
“I’m just excited, it’s been a long wait all summer,” Helena quarterback and Montana State commit Kaleb Winterburn said. “To finally get here, it’s kind of surreal, honestly. Senior year, here we come.”
This being the first day of practice Arntson is starting his guys off with the basics.
“Let’s get the mental stuff in, start talking plays and terminology,” he said. “Offensively start getting some rhythm to what we’re doing. Defensively, very fundamental. Make sure we get our fundamental stuff taken care of and progress where we left off during camp in the summer.”
Helena opens the season on the road against Great Falls CMR on Aug. 25
