EAST MEADOW, N.Y. – Seventeen-year-old Billings phenom Ethan Harder won a silver medal Wednesday in the 200 backstroke at the USA Speedo Junior Nationals swim meet in East Meadow, New York, breaking the Montana State record in the process.

Harder finished in 2:00.12, putting him in the USA Swimming Top 30 all-time for 17-18 year olds, according to Billings Aquatic Club coach Sean Marshall. Marshall also believes it puts Harder in the Top 100 of the 2017 World Ranking for the 200 backstroke.

Fifteen-year-old Carson Foster from Cincinnati, Ohio, won the race in 1:59.40. Foster also won the 200 butterfly on Tuesday. Harder finished 39th, but broke the Montana State record in that race as well in 2:06.25.

Harder is heading into his junior year at Billings Senior.
