BILLINGS – For the 11th straight year, the Rocky Mountain College volleyball team received the American Volleyball Coaches Association Team Academic Award for the 2016-17 academic year. The Battlin’ Bears were one of only 51 NAIA programs to receive the prestigious award.

The Battlin’ Bears earned a 3.47 team grade point average. Nine Battlin’ Bears received the Frontier Conference Academic Award, and one individual earned Dakstats AVCA Academic All-America status. Nine Battlin’ Bears volleyball players who contributed to the award achieved a 3.50 GPA, four of which earned a 4.0.

The AVCA award was initiated in 1992 and honors collegiate teams that display excellence in the classroom by maintaining at least a 3.30 team GPA on a 4.0 scale.

The Battlin’ Bears open fall camp Saturday, August 4. Their first home match is against the Alumni, at the Fortin Center, Saturday, September 9, at 2:00 p.m.
