BILLINGS – Motorcycle hill climbers and fans are amped up for a giant weekend in Billings.

Friday marks Year 99 of the Great American Championship Hillclimb in the South Hills. Racers will charge up the Bentonite Nightmare Friday from 8 a.m. until around midnight. That includes side-by-side racing under the lights.

Saturday offers a similar schedule but won’t start until 11 a.m.

Without looking too far ahead, anticipation for the 100th year is already brewing.

“Nowhere in the world does it run 100 years consecutively like it does here in Billings,” said Billings Motorcycle Club president Cord Mitchell. “We’ve already got plans for the hill, changing some things on the hill. We’ve got a whole bunch of companies who want to come do some filming and write a bunch of articles on it and view it. So, yeah, we’ve already started planning for next year.”

The Great American Championship Hillclimb tickets will be available at the gate for $15 or both days for $25. Kids 10 and under are welcome for no charge with a paid adult.
