MISSOULA – With 18 holes in the books, the lone ticket to the U.S. Amateur Tournament is still up for grabs.
14 players sit within four shots of the lead heading into the second and final round at the Ranch Club on Tuesday morning. The winner will claim a spot in the U.S. Amateur Championships at Riviera Country Club in Pacific Palisades, California next month.
Helena’s Riley Lawrence and Canada’s Evan Holmes both finished even par on the difficult course, to tie for the lead. Two trail by only one, two others trail by two, and a pack of five golfers shot 75 to finish three strokes back. That group includes Anaconda’s Caleb Stetzner. The MSU-Billings sophomore won the Montana State Am at the Missoula Country Club on Saturday.
The final round will begin at 8:30 Tuesday morning, with the final group teeing off at 9:30.
