FARGO, N.D. – The Weber family just added another accolade.

Michael Weber, the Montana state 145-pound champion at last February’s state championships, earned a runner-up finish at the Cadet Freestyle national championships on Monday. Weber fell 6-5 to Michigan’s Alex Facundo in the title match.

Weber led 4-0 early in the match, but Facundo, a triple-crown winner, rallied back to tie the score at 4-4 before taking the eventual lead and holding off the Montana champion. Weber won the 126-pound Class B title in 2016.

The Forsyth standout toppled Drew Eller of Georgia 11-3 in the semifinals to punch his ticket to the final match of the Cadet Freestyle bracket. He won his six matches by a combined score of 66-10.
