BILLINGS – Two of Billings Senior’s finest put a stamp on the 2017 Montana East-West Shrine Game Saturday night in their final hurrah as teammates.
Trailing 24-23 with under six minutes to play, quarterback Nate Dick found former Bronc Keaton Anderson from five yards out to give the East the lead. It was Anderson’s second touchdown catch in a game where he also played defense and special teams.
Dick then sealed the win with a beautiful play-action fake and 23-yard scamper for his fourth TD.
The two friends shared a lot of titles in their high school careers, but now will be rivals, with Dick headed to the University of Montana and Anderson to Montana State. How do they feel about it?
“It’s going to suck,” said Anderson, who play’ll defensive back for the Bobcats. “I mean, he’s a good player. (I’m) going to have to wrangle him down when he’s running. It’ll be tough, but I’m sure it’ll be fun.”
“You know, I’m really going to miss that kid,” said Dick, who’ll attempt to continue as a quarterback for the Grizzlies. “We’re going to be rivals for the next four or five years, but I love that kid to death. Best of luck to him and I hope he just kills it up at Montana State.”
