EAST HELENA — Gunnar Brekke is used to trying to avoid tackles.

Now, the former Helena Capital and Montana State running back is trying to tackle a new sport. Brekke tried his hand at bareback riding at the Three Forks NRA Rodeo over the weekend. He racked up more than 2,500 total yards for the Bobcats, but he didn’t fare too well on his first bareback attempt at Three Forks.

Brekke’s a quick learner, though, and record his first eight-second ride on Saturday at the East Helena Valley Rodeo. That’s according to former teammate Matt Brownlow, anyway.

Brownlow posted a video of Brekke’s ride to his Twitter account Saturday night.
