HELENA – The Great Falls Voyagers scored 13 runs on 13 hits and never trailed in a 13-1 thrashing of the Helena Brewers on Tuesday night.
Craig Dedelow went 2-5 from the plate and had three RBI to lead the Voyagers (2-0) who also received a pair of RBI each from Luis Curbelo, Anthony Villa and Franklin Reyes. Curbelo belted his first home run of the season in the win.
Great Falls opened the floodgates in the fourth inning, scoring six runs in the frame. Nate Nolan’s double to left field started the scoring when Justin Yurchak crossed home plate. Tyler Frost’s grounder into a force out was enough to plate Nolan for a 2-0 advantage.
With the bases loaded, Nestor Corredor opted to replace pitcher Harold Chirino with Juan Diaz, who tossed a passed ball by Payton Henry to score Frost and give Great Falls a 3-0 lead. The scoring continued with Villa’s double to drive in Curbelo and Luis Gonzalez. Reyes’ RBI single brought Villa home for the 6-0 lead.
Helena joined the scoring on Nick Roscetti’s home run in the sixth inning, but the Brewers never found a rhythm against the Great Falls pitchers, who threw 12 strikeouts, six from Luis Ledo.
Great Falls added totals of one, two and four runs in the final three innings, respectively. Helena (0-2) travels to Great Falls on Wednesday in the Voyagers’ home opener.
