HELENA – Sam Bucy drove in four runs in two games as the Missoula Mavericks earned a two-game sweep over the Helena Senators on Wednesday afternoon.

Bucy, who collected two hits and two RBI in the Mavs 2-0 shutout against the Senators in game one, doubled up his numbers with two more hits and two more RBI in the nightcap at Kindrick Legion Field.

Missoula pitcher Dylan Chalmers dialed up nine strikeouts for the Mavs in the first contest while Ryan McHugh added three K’s in game two.

Bucy drove in the first run of the game in the opening frame on Wednesday afternoon, a make-up of two separate postponements in the prior two days. His sacrifice fly in the sixth inning scored Nick Yovetich to put the Mavs up for good. Each team had six hits and an error in the first contest.

Game 2 opened much the same way as the Mavs took a 1-0 lead in the third inning, but Helena responded with Payton Pappas driving in two runs for a Senators lead. But Missoula scored six runs in the final two innings to earn the sweep.

Helena falls to 14-13 and will play an exhibition game with the Pioneer League Helena Brewers on Thursday evening at Kindrick Legion Field. First pitch is set for 7:05 p.m.
