BUTTE – The Butte Cobras are making the jump from the Western State’s Hockey League to the NA3HL, which means they’ll play more local teams like Helena and Bozeman regularly. The move also limits the amount of foreign players they can have on the roster, a plus to a team that wants to keep its focus local.

“We think we’ll see our youth organization with more local players and more American players,” said Butte Amateur Hockey Association board member Jason Manning. “We want the kids in the community. We want the kids out and about. We want them reading in the schools. We want them doing car washes at the beginning of the season, all that kind of stuff. And we want them to to have a presence inside of Butte.”
