FARGO – A former Bozeman High School star is having a huge freshman year at North Dakota State. Bennett Hostetler, who excelled in three sports as a Hawk, is a finalist for freshman male athlete of the year with the Bison.
Hostetler won the starting shortstop job as a true freshman, and has been hitting lead-off for the past 20 games. He’s currently hitting .270 with 20 RBI, two home runs, and five stolen bases. Last weekend, as his team won the Oral Roberts tournament, Hostetler went 8 for 14.
And he has done all this while making the honor roll.
