WHITEFISH – Two Montana Western athletes and one from the University of Great Falls were named Frontier Conference track and field athletes of the week, the league announced Monday.

Josh Jessop and Mindy Kaufman of UM Western earned their honors after strong performances on the track at the Trudnowski Open at Carroll College. Jessop, a freshman from Corvallis, placed first in the men’s 800-meter run in a time of 2 minutes, 1.32 seconds. He added a third-place finish in the 1,500-meter race (4:22.74).

Kaufman, a sophomore from Alta, Wyo., finished fourth in the 1,500- and 5,000-meter runs. She crossed the finish line in the 1,500 in 5:09.96 and the 5,000 in 20:09.80.

UGF’s Trevor Pepin, a freshman from Great Falls CMR, was named the men’s field athlete of the week. He finished second in the javelin at the Trudnowski Open with a throw of 55.75 meters. That mark hit the NAIA B standard to qualify Pepin for the 2017 NAIA national meet.
