COLORADO SPRINGS – The Professional Rodeo Cowboys Association and the Days of ’47 Rodeo are excited to announce the Days of ’47 Komatsu Equipment Cowboy Games, coming in the summer of 2017 to Salt Lake City.

The $1 million Olympic-style rodeo will be held July 19-22 and 24 in the all-new, $16 million, state-of-the-art Days of ’47 Arena currently under construction at the Utah State Fair Park. The venue, an outdoor arena located in the heart of Salt Lake City, is due for completion by July 1, and features 10,000 stadium-style seats.

PRCA contestants in bareback riding, steer wrestling, team roping, saddle bronc riding, tie-down roping, barrel racing and bull riding earn the right to compete in the Days of ’47 Cowboy Games and Rodeo. The contestants for this event will consist of the top 10 from the PRCA and WPRA, the 2017 leader from each of the 12 national PRCA/WPRA circuits, the 2017 leading Rookie of the Year (as of July 5) and the 2017 Ram National Circuit Finals Champions. The Days of ’47 Cowboy Games & Rodeo will also qualify an additional eight contestants, of which up to five will qualify from the Days of ’47 Trial Events.

A total of 32 competitors in each of the eight rodeo disciplines will battle it out for their share of $256,000 in the semi final round and the right to advance to the Gold Medal Round.

The Gold Medal Round will pay an historical $744,000 and the winners in each discipline will receive $50,000 in cash and a Cowboy Games gold medal.
