HELENA – Four athletes from Carroll College earned the Frontier Conference track and field player of the week honors. The league announced the news on Monday.
Junior Janie Reid earned the league’s women’s track athlete of the week after winning the Buttercup Run Half Marathon in Arlee over the weekend. Reid crossed in 1:27:01.04, qualifying with an NAIA-A standard time. She finished 17 minutes ahead of the runner-up.
Junior Mika Robinson was named the women’s field athlete of the week after capturing the pole vault title at the Yellowjacket-Battlin’ Bear Open in Laurel. Robinson, a former Billings West standout, vaulted 3.5 meters to hit the NAIA-B standard at the meet hosted by MSU Billings and Rocky Mountain College.
Senior David Barnett, the defending NAIA javelin champion, was honored with the men’s field athlete of the week. He earned runner-up honors in the javelin at the Yellowjacket-Battlin’ Bear Open with a toss of 53.80 meters.
Freshman Layne Ryerson of Helena won the men’s Buttercup Run Half Marathon in Arlee, posting a winning time of 1:11:28.33, crossing nearly four minutes ahead of the runner-up.
