HELENA – The golf programs from Carroll College and Montana Tech wanted one last warm-up before flying south to Arizona.

Monday, the Fighting Saints swept their invitational against the Orediggers at Green Meadow Country Club. The two teams join the rest of the Frontier Conference in Arizona for the conference championships early next week.

The Carroll and Tech men battled in a fun scramble-style play, with the Saints’ teams outscoring the Diggers 14-10. Carroll’s Ben Gardner and Austin Egan earned a split with Sean Benson and David Starcevich of Tech in the top group. But, the rest of the Carroll teams took care of business to hold the advantage.

The women’s competition was normal stroke play, with the top four scorers counting toward the overall team results. The women ended with a three-way tie at the top of the leaderboard. Carroll’s Katie Goins fired an 80, good enough to share the lead with Tech standouts Taryn Campbell and Hailey Ogolin.
