DCC Athletics release

GLENDIVE – Connor Wojahn has committed to play baseball for Dawson Community college in Glendive, the school announced on Monday.

The Tigard, Oregon, native is a right-handed throwing first-baseman/pitcher.

“When Connor called to commit, it was a great day for Bucs Baseball,” DCC Baseball Coach Chris Lewis said of his most recent signing. “He is a kid that comes from a great family, a great high school program and a great summer program. Coach Campbell at Tigard High School is one of the best high school coaches in the history of Oregon High School Baseball. Joe Taylor with Portland Baseball Club has built a premiere program in the northwest and we also reached out to Jon Strohmaier, my high school coach and mentor, and he had great things to say about Connor as well. So when you can cross-check a recruit with those 3 guys and they all say positive things about Connor, we know we landed the right type of player and I want to thank those 3 guys for their help in the process.”

Coach Lewis went on to add, “Connor is solid at first base, he picks it well and throws it very well. At the plate, he has the potential to be a middle of the order hitter for us and we will have the expectation that he will be a guy that will drive in some runs for us. On the mound, we expect him to make some contributions as well because he has the ability to start games as well as the ability to close as a back end arm. But it is his work ethic and drive that we are most excited about. We can’t wait to have him on campus and get to work with him”
Connor on why he chose Dawson, “I chose Dawson because I have heard nothing but good things about Coach Lewis and I believe it is a place where I can get better.”

Wojahn was selected to play in the Oregon High School Futures game with the top high school prospects in Oregon. He was also selected to play in the Baseball Northwest Championship tournament in both 2015 & 2016 representing Oregon Metro. He will be a 4 year letter winner after this year is finished.
