KANSAS CITY, Mo. – Six Frontier Conference men’s basketball players have earned NAIA scholar athlete status, the organization announced on Monday. MSU-Northern is tied for the most in the country with three Lights collecting the academic honor.

A student-athlete must maintain a minimum 3.5 GPA (4.0 scale) and achieve at least a junior academic status with their university. Head coaches or sports information directors may then nominate such athletes.

MSU-Northern’s Kevin Oberweiser, Tyler Chandler and William Walker each met the criteria for Shawn Huse’s Lights, which competed in the semifinals of the Frontier Conference tournament.
