BILLINGS – The L-C State Lady Warriors came into Friday as the last remaining Frontier Conference team standing at the NAIA Women’s Championship. That status remains true.
The Warriors are off to the final four after outlasting Westmont 72-67 on Friday night.
L-C State got off to a blazing fast start and led by as many as 11 points in the first half, but Westmont would not go quietly.
The California team rallied behind Kayla Sato, who poured in a game-high 31, to take a one point lead into the final quarter.
That’s when Caelyn Orlandi and Jossilyn Blackman took over. Orlandi drove through the Westmont defense time after time only to dish to Blackman for easy buckets.
Blackman finished with 17 points and 5 rebounds, but the star of the show was Orlandi. The senior guard notched a double-double with 25 points and 10 assists as the Warriors survived and advanced.
L-C State will play Vanguard on Monday night at 8:00 p.m. Campbellsville and Oklahoma City will face off in the first final four game of the night at 6:00 p.m.
