GREAT FALLS — The Helena High girls built a lead early and held on late to beat Billings Senior 37-29 and advance to the Class AA semifinals.

Kamden Hilborn scored a team high 14 points for the Bengals who led 20-11 at halftime. Billings Senior used a 10-3 run in the in the third and fourth quarter to pull within two points on a pair of Kola Bad Bear free throws with 4:06 to play.

But Helena weathered the storm. A Taelyr Krantz layup put the Bengals up by four and the Bronc would never get any closer.

Krantz and Hailey Crawford each added 8 points apiece for Helena, while Kola Bad Bear led all scorers with 16 points for Senior. Helena managed to hit just 9-of21- free throw attempts which allowed the Broncs to stick around.

Helena, the second seed out of the West, advances to Friday’s semifinals and will face the winner of Bozeman and Kalispell Glacier at 6:30 p.m.
