GREAT FALLS — Reigning Gatorade Player of the Year Brendan Howard scored 21 points and the Great Falls High boys rode a dominant fourth quarter to a 57-45 win over Missoula Hellgate.

The Bison led the Knights 36-34 after three quarters, but outscored the Hellgate 21-11 in the final frame including a 15-3 run to pull ahead for good. Kendall Kynett added 11 points and senior Kody Torgerson registered 10 points and game high 5 assists for the Bison.

The Knights got 12 points from Rollie Worster and Derrius Collins but shot a dismal 36 percent from the field in the second half. Great Falls High converted 11-of-19 field goals in the second half, a 59.9-percent clip.

Great Falls High advances to the Class AA semifinals and await the winner of Bozeman and Kalispell Flathead in Friday tip off at 5 p.m.

Howard, who entered the game sitting at 1,999 career points surpassed the 2,000 point mark with a basket in the first quarter becoming the first ever AA player to reach the milestone.
