GREAT FALLS — For a divisional semifinal, Thursday night’s game between the Belt and Box Elder girls sure had a championship atmosphere.
In a rematch of last year’s Northern C and state title games, Belt outlasted Box Elder 63-60 to advance to Friday’s divisional championship. Kerstyn Pimperson led the Huskies with 18 points including a crucial free throws in the final two minutes. Junior Dani Urick added 15 points and 10 rebounds for a double-double.
Box Elder was led by sophomore Lilly Gopher with 24 points including 16 in the first half on 6-for-6 shooting.
Belt advances to face fellow 8C foe Roy-Winifred in the final, while the Bears will try their luck in the consolation bracket. If Box Elder finishes in third place and Belt defeats the Outlaws, Box Elder and Roy-Winifred would meet in a challenge game on Monday.
