WHITEFISH – Three Carroll College track and field athletes won Frontier Conference weekly awards, the league announced Monday.
Chance Hyatt was named the conference’s men’s indoor track athlete of the week, while Leah Esposito and Crystal Schmidt won the women’s indoor track and field athletes of the week, respectively.
Hyatt, a sophomore from Bainville, finished first in the 800-meter run at the WSU Cougar Indoor meet in Pullman, Wash. He crossed the finish line in 1 minute, 44.40 seconds, earning his second NAIA-A qualifying standard.
Esposito, a senior from Helena, placed first out of 33 entrants in the mile at the WSU Cougar Indoor meet. Her time of 4:58.67 was the third-fastest in the NAIA this season.
Schmidt, a senior from Hermiston, Ore., finished third in the high jump at the WSU Cougar Indoor meet. She also placed fifth in the shot put.
Lewis-Clark State’s Kurtis Bonner won the men’s field athlete of the week.
