GREAT FALLS – The CMR Rustlers are sure glad Dane Warp doesn’t play for Havre anymore. With the former Blue Pony star in the middle of his freshman campaign at Carroll College, the CMR boys capitalized – beating Havre 46-26 for their first win over the Blue Ponies since 2014.

The Rustlers (5-6) did it on the defensive end, holding Havre (3-10) to just six field goals all game. Twelve CMR players scored in the blowout win, with Garrison Rothwell leading the way with 11 points. Tanner Parsons had eight points for Havre behind a first quarter 3-pointer and five free throws.

In Havre, the CMR girls had a key defensive performance of their own in a 49-39 road win. The Blue Ponies (10-2) led 28-25 at halftime before the Rustlers took a 38-35 lead entering the fourth quarter. But Brian Crosby’s squad allowed only four points in the final frame for the non-conference win.

CMR will face Helena in another non-conference affair Saturday at 4:30 p.m., while Havre will take on Malta at home on Saturday – girls tip at 4 p.m., boys at 5:30 p.m.
