BILLINGS – Rocky Mountain College picked up two key Frontier Conference wins Saturday with a men-women doubleheader sweep of Montana Tech at the Fortin Center.
Mikayla Jones scored 16 to lead Rocky’s women to a 62-51 win in the opener. Keisha Engelhardt added a double-double with 14 points and 10 rebounds, while Billings Central alum Justyn Juhl added 10.
Martha Dembek scored a game-high 26 in the loss for the Diggers, who shot just 29% from the field.
A balanced attack led Rocky’s men in the night game. Four players scored in double figures, led by Zach Hinton’s 16, in the Bears’ 84-55 victory on head coach Bill Dreikosen’s 46th birthday.
Rocky was scorching from the three-point line, shooting 12-21 for a 24-point advantage behind the arc. Chad Kananen was 4-6 from three on his way to 14 points, while Riley Bradshaw was 3-5 on threes, scoring 12 total.
Rocky shot 53.7% from the field as a team. Montana Tech shot just 31% (18-58).
Rocky’s men move to 9-7 overall, and 2-2 in conference. The women picked up their first conference win to move to 1-3, and are also 9-7 overall.
