BILLINGS – The MSU Billings men will have revenge on their minds tomorrow.
The ‘Jackets welcome Rocky Mountain College to Alterowitz gym for round two of the crosstown showdown. The Bears beat MSUB 78-73 last month in a game the ‘Jackets led by 10 in the second half.
Since then, the Jackets have turned a corner – winning four of their last five while averaging 84 points a game.
Tomorrow’s is not a conference game, but MSUB wants this one just as badly after a disappointing opener.
“We made some mistakes,” said freshman guard Cinco Durr. “We didn’t have our goals, we didn’t have our mindset in those first couple games that we lost. Coming back – changing our mindset, just achieving those goals – we’re just here to take it out on them. We’re mad now.”
“It definitely fuels the fire,” said sophomore forward Preston Beverly, who leads MSUB in scoring at 16.8 PPG.
“I feel like if we execute the gameplan that coach gives us, we can be successful.”
Head coach Jamie Stevens believes he’ll know more about his team after the game.
“It’s a great measuring stick. We played them November 15, and here we are a month later. We can kinda gauge where we’ve come from, what we’re doing better, what we still need to work.
But Stevens also knows the importance of a win in MSUB’s final game before the holiday break.
“You know, that Christmas dinner is gonna taste a lot better if we can go into it with a W.”
