HELENA – Taylor England scored a game-high 16 points and grabbed a critical rebound in the fourth quarter as Helena High held off Butte, 39-37.
England, an all-state selection a year ago, gave the Bulldogs fits in the post for the majority of the evening. With around five minutes to play in the contest, England connected on a basket in the post and drew a foul to give the Bengals a one-point lead. After a Connor Murgel free throw made it 39-37 with under a minute to play, England corralled a key rebound off a Butte miss that sent possession to the other end.
Butte would miss an attempt to win the game from three-quarter court as time expired.
The Bulldogs were led by Ryson Lovshin and Evan Anderson’s 11 points in the loss.
