ASHLAND, Ore. – Yesterday’s release of the first regular season NAIA Wrestling Coaches’ Poll still had the 3-0 Argo wrestling team outside of the Top 20. It had Southern Oregon ranked #6. That may have been wrong. UGF pulled its second Top-10 upset of the season, improving to 4-0 in duals with a 21-19 victory over the Raiders.

UGF was powered by a combination of redshirt-freshman and veteran Khaldoon Rashid. Of the Argo’s five wins, three were a major decision or better, with redshirt-freshman Randy Keesler earning a crucial pin at 174.

That came right after (7) Khaldoon Rashid won by a 13-4 major decision at 165, ending a four match win streak for SOU.

UGF started and ended well, getting a 15-0 technical fall victory from redshirt-freshman Isaac Wilson at 125, and then getting a 4-0 decision win from sophomore Matt Hopkins at 285 that swung the match in UGF’s favor.

The Argos will continue their campaign to stay undefeated and get back into the national rankings with a dual against (T15) Warner Pacific University on Friday, November 18 at 8 p.m. MT.
