LAS VEGAS – 2008 PBR (Professional Bull Riders) World Champion Guilherme Marchi (Leme, Brazil) and Canadian Champion Ty Pozzobon (Merritt, British Columbia) emerged as the winners of Round 2 of the Built Ford Tough World Finals after matching 89.5-point rides Thursday night at T-Mobile Arena.

Meanwhile, reigning two-time PBR World Champion J.B. Mauney (Moresville, North Carolina) shaved 75 points off No. 1 bull rider Kaique Pacheco’s (Itatiba, Brazil) lead after riding Margy Time (D&H Cattle Co.) for 87 points to finish fifth in Round 2. Mauney is the only rider in the Top 3 to go 2-for-2 so far in the six-day event.

Marchi became the first rider to cover Smooth Operator (Dakota Rodeo/Julie Rosen/Clay Struve/Chad Berger), while Pozzobon covered Big Cat (Dakota Rodeo/Struve/Berger/Heald). The pair each earned 240 points toward the world standings for their finish. Marchi moved to 10th in the world standings while Pozzobon climbed to 25th.

Pozzobon, became the first Canadian to win a round at the world finals since Aaron Roy (Yellow Grass, Saskatchewan) did so in Round 7 in 2009 with a score of 91.75 on Top Notch (Martinez Bucking Bulls).

SweetPro’s Long John (D&H Cattle Co.) earned high-marked bull honors after tossing Kasey Hayes (Liberal, Kansas) in 6.18 seconds, earning a 45.75-point bull score in the first of his two outs that will count toward the World Champion Bull race.

Rubens Barbosa (Uberlandia, Brazil) finished third in Round 2 after an 89-point trip aboard Wicked (J.A.R.S. Bucking Bulls/Gene Owen/Rafter D). Barbosa is only the third rider to cover Wicked on the Built Ford Tough Series this season, and the first since Pacheco did so here in Las Vegas at Last Cowboy Standing. Barbosa earned 125 points toward the world standings for the finish.

2016 PBR Brazil Champion Dener Barbosa (Paulo de Faria, Brazil) turned in his first qualified ride on the BFTS when he covered Stone Sober (D&H Cattle Co./Buck Cattle Co.) for 87.5 points to finish fourth in Round 2. Dener joins Mauney as the only rider to cover Stone Sober on the BFTS this season.

The Top 40 bull riders in the world will enter crunch time Friday night as they return for Round 3 of the World Finals. The action starts on CBS Sports Network and PBR LIVE at 7:30 p.m. MT.
