GREAT FALLS – The University of Great Falls women’s volleyball team begins its conference season Friday. The Argos had a loaded preseason schedule, playing several ranked opponents.

They lost in the second round of last year’s conference tournament, but Argos head coach Arunas Duda says that this year’s team has more experience thanks to that challenging preseason and the seniors are embracing their leadership roles.

“You know, we’ve had a really exciting and tough preseason,” Duda said. “Ten of the first 13 teams we played were ranked in the top 25 or receiving votes. So it’s been a challenge, that’s for sure. We’ve got some good leadership on this team, we’ve got some really good seniors, and I think right about now we’re starting to come into our own.”

The team hopes that everything they experienced last season will help them achieve their goals of bringing home a championship to UGF.

“I think we set our goals with putting ourselves in a good spot for the conference tournament,” Duda said. “So a top-three finish in conference, so that way we could compete for a title here at our home court.”
