Flathead tops Great Falls High in 4OT thriller (MTN Sports photo)

GREAT FALLS — The Samson Bowl lived up the hype.

Kyle Samson and Kalispell Flathead defeated Mark Samson and Great Falls High 42-41 at Memorial Stadium. It’s the first time the father (Mark) and son (Kyle) have coached against each other.

After a defensive battle through four quarters, the Bison and Braves went to overtime tied at 14 points apiece. The teams traded touchdowns through four overtime periods, but Great Falls’ missed extra point in the fourth overtime proved to be the difference.

Bridger Johnson had four touchdowns, two each passing and rushing, to help lead Flathead. Both rushing touchdowns came in overtime.
