This is a release from the Billings Mustangs

IDHAO FALLS, Idaho – The Billings Mustangs (11-6, 34-21) dropped their series finale 7-3 to the Idaho Falls Chukars (7-11, 29-27) in front of 2,439 on Thursday at Melaleuca Field. With the win, the Chukars earned the series split.

Max Wotell (0-1) was only able to record five outs in the start, giving up four runs on five hits before being pulled in the second. Idaho Falls scored four runs in the second to force the Mustangs to go to their bullpen. Angelo Castellano and Nick Heath came up with RBI singles while Ricky Aracena smacked a two-RBI single to round out the scoring in the frame.

Trailing 4-0, the Mustangs retaliated with two runs of their own in the third. Hector Vargas doubled to left to score Michael Beltre and Montrell Marshall. With the hit, Vargas is now on a 13-game hitting streak, one shy of the longest the Mustangs have had this season which Vargas set earlier in the year.

Aaron Quillen and Brian Hunter combined for three perfect innings of relief to finish the game as the Mustangs also retired 10 straight to close out the contest. It was the final time Billings would face a Southern Division opponent in the regular season.

The Mustangs now return home to face the Missoula Osprey in a four-game series. First pitch on Friday from Dehler Park is set for 7:05 p.m.
